Update manager - Software delivery failed

SUM was reporting "software delivery failed" - looking at the Update Manager details showed the following:

"Data read from the update source for software subscription 'Recommended' was invalid (e.g. corrupt or incomplete)"

When I look at the subscription, instead of showing 10.3.0 the version shows a GUID (F26F7EC0-1302-4DA7-8B6B-A5383051D41A)

Changed it to 10.3.1 and forced update, that resolved the error. Downloading direct from Sophos - some glitch at the source side?

However, are we going to see 10.3 Recommended/Previous/Oldest options within the Subscription so I don't have to keep changing the subscription

An what does "Preview" in the Subscription mean?

    please see Software subscriptions in Enterprise Console v 5.2.1 and above.

    It's probably a meta-data glitch - that is, I assume you are not on 5.2.1 yet and thus you can access the fixed versions and also don't get this popup. As Preview has only one version your fixed subscription "disappears" as soon as the new one is out. Instead of selecting 10.3.1 (or any 10.3.x version) just select Preview for now (to be sure, view the Details ...). Once 10.3.x is GA revert to the Recommended subscription.

    You're right, I only have 5.2.0 - hadn't noticed that newer version.

    Can't move to 5.2.1 at the moment though - I'm having to maintain 10.2.7 for some clients as later versions break an application update process. Hope to have that resolved shortly though.

    Hello NTSys,

    upgrading preserves the existing subscriptions. 5.2.1 will behave like earlier versions for the specific product in the specific subscription (and present the pop up) until you switch to a general package. From then on there's no way back. When the fixed package expires you still have the option to select another fixed package (might be less than the usual three to four).

    With the new strategy there's place for three types of customers :smileytongue:: Madcaps - selecting (the single) Preview (which is Recommended when there is no upcoming significant change), squares - following Recommended and wimps - running into the same issues as regulars only one month later. Well, understandable - and likely the impact felt from keeping four packages with their fixed versions available was a convincing argument to make some changes. Anyway, a version's lifespan is now just two months.
