3dsmax doesn't open

i have a 2003 machine on which i have installed ep console 4.5 and installed sophos antivirus 9.5 on my client machines now problem is regarding 3dsmax ver 9.0 application which i need to run on some of my client machines but sophos antivirus restrict it to run however its installed smoothly on clients pc but does not open.i have checked logs,events and error but there is no clue i found i contacted with sophos support toll free no and also put a mail but no satisfactory answer is given so far and my problem still persist, if i unistall sophos antivirus from my client machine then 3dsmax software opens smoothly. i have authorized all suspicious behaviour,file and buffer overflow on both console machine and client machine but issue doesn't resolve. please help me and give satisfactory answer.

    We've just had exactly the same experience. Performed a long overdue upgrade specifically for the web protection feature only to have Max die on us left, right and centre. Disabling the web protection and getting people to reboot has resolved the issue but it's disapointing that we can't use the one feature we upgraded for.

    Is there a fix in the works? And any more details as to why this seemingly unrelated feature broke Max so badly?

    The engineering team has reproduced this internally and identified a candidate fix. It will be scheduled for an upcoming release as soon as possible.

    Hi,

    Just to add another one to this, we too have had this issue. We have built a PC up slowly bit by bit, adding drivers, software and policies, and Sophos was the one that broke it. Having disabled the web scanner, it now works fine.

    This is with version 11 of 3DS Max.

    Do you know when the update is scheduled for release?

    This is currently scheduled for 9.5.4, although I must caution everyone that it is still possible it will not be included in that release if the fix does not pass the final quality assurance regression and performance testing.

    For reference, we successfully tested the fix against the downloadable trial version of 3ds Max 2011 from the Autodesk website.

    I can confirm this issue has been resolved with SAV 9.5.4 release, this release also requires a restart when upgrading from 9.5.3 or earlier to 9.5.4.
