Differents dates in Sophos last Update info

Hello Sophos

Apparently this is a issue in Sophos Anti-Virus client date update info.

The info to Last Update differs in 3 parts.

1. In task bar info and Status is the same and INCORRECT

2. In the Product Info - Antivirus and HIPS - Last Update - CORRECT

The Last Update CORRECT is the same versión and date in the Sophos Enterprise Console.

See the attached image:

  • Hello Linck,

why are your users so keen on this information? Not that it is not desirable that they are interested in SAV being up to date.

Strictly speaking the users can't easily tell whether they are up to date - they'd have to check the detailed product information against the IDEs page and compare version and IDE numbers. There might be a rather quiet time and the last actual update at Sophos might be several hours past - thus the user will see that the client has last updated, say, five hours ago. Clicking Update now won't change this. OTOH if the client could connect to the update server but the actual update failed this will be indicated - as well as a download failure (but not on the first occurrence as it allows for occasional glitches).

Of course, an unchanging "last actual update" could indicate a problem with SEC - but then, it's not the users who should have to detect such a problem.
