Failed to install SAVXP: The MSI has failed.

Hello,

We get the following error message on several computers:

Failed to install SAVXP: The MSI has failed.

Tried to reinstall sophos but that makes no difference.

Can you help me.

Hello Michael,
couldn't find anything new. To me it still looks like swi_update.exe /update is failing - around the time I expect it to be called there's then the line 2012-04-11 10:17:08 UninstallSecurityCenter: Action started - and I assume that's already part of the rollback.
So once again - please contact Support, they should have some more knowledge of the actions performed at this point - and how to get to the cause of the error.

The log does mention:

ForceDeleteFiles: Error deleting DesktopMessaging registry key.

...which is covered in article: Endpoint Security and Control: error 00000067 during installation or upgrade and is to do with registry permissions.

The log also mentions:

Error deleting file: C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\sophos_detoured.dll.stf00

...which has been seen when installing SAV9.x on computers with advanced format (512e) hard drive s. You need SAV10 for 512e hard drive support.
