Default Sophos Central Bandwidth limit of 33.1 KB/s?

Can someone tell me why the default bandwidth Usage is 256Kb/s a.k.a. 33.1KB a second?

    If you're not using a Sophos Update Cache [https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/122577], and all computers are going through a single connection/proxy without caching, then on a major software update (50-200MB, depending on the number of updated components) it could overwhelm the network in a sudden spike.

    For the standard 5-7 ides a day at 10-30KB each it does't really matter.

    I think it's just a play it safe option but I can see it taking a long time to perform a major update at that speed.  Around 2 hrs for 200MB but these are pretty infrequent and tends to be much less than that.

    Good point jak!

    Perhaps more options between "Unlimited" and the next highest setting of "1024 Kb/s" (128 KB/sec) - I can see that being pretty useful. A good time to add it to the Sophos Ideas page!
