Migrating from Enterprise Console to Central

I have just purchased a new Sophos AV cloud licence for Intercept X for my clients on the LAN, instead of renewing my Enterprise console licence so I dont need it installed on my network. I created a Sophos Central account and have activated the licenses in it. I have just learnt about the migration tool so that I wont have to manually uninstall and reinstall AV off of all of my client PC's.

If I try and use the Migration Tool, after creating the API key, it tells me that it "could not find any licensed features etc."

Does this mean that I cant use it as I only have licences for Intercept X and nothing for the cloud platform?

  • Hi

Do you have the license for Central Endpoint as well? Sophos Central may not yet support all the features you manage with Sophos Enterprise Console. You must disable or uninstall any unsupported features before migration. Please check this article for more information. Also, this article describes all the information and known issues with Sophos Central migration tool. Hope this helps.

  • Am I right in thinking that I need to have my Enterprise Console licence information in my Sophos Central account? I only recently created the Central account for the purpose of activating my new Intercept X licences.

Is there a way to move my current Enterprise Console licenses into Central? They expire in a couple weeks (end of a 3 year agreement) hence the new cloud licences.

I am just trying to find out if I can migrate everything without having to manually uninstall and reinstall the client onto all of my PC's

  • Hi

I would suggest you to contact your account manager to move your license into central. You can then migrate the endpoints with the help of Sophos Cloud migration tool without the re-installation.

  • I dont even know who my account manager is, the current licences were bought through a supplier and my new licenses were bought from a different supplier, its just going to be less hassle to just do it all manually.

  • Hello Derrick,

I was in the same situation like you and learned that the migration tool does NOT migrate any policies from SEC to Central.

When I found out for a customer network with 42 clients and 8 virtual servers, I decided to go the manual route, un-installed the old components and installed the new ones by hand.

That went smooth and didn't cause much of a headache.
