add endpoint back to sophos central

i have one windows machine that was not used for 10 months, it is currently not inside sophos central but there is a version of sophos central endpoint already installed.

how do i add this machine back to sophos central.

when i tried to re-install, it says "tamper protection is enabled. tamper protection must be disabled before installation"

    You can re-register the device by following the below steps. 

    1. Recover Tamper protection on the endpoint.
    2. Stop the Sophos MCS Client and Agent Service.
    3. Delete the files CredentialsEndpointIdentity.txt and those with the .xml extension that is located in the following path:
      • Windows 7 and later: C:\ProgramData\Sophos\Management Communications System\Endpoint\Persist
      • Windows XP: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Sophos\Management Communications System\Endpoint\Persist
    4. Restart the Sophos MCS client and agent service

    The endpoint should now reflect on the cloud dashboard. Let me know if you face any issues.
