Virtualization Scan Controller Configuration Change Not Updating SQL Tables

Hello,

 

I am trying to add more VMs to the configuration within the Sophos Scan Controller, however it does not appear to be working correctly. The new VMs I have added to the configuation on the server running Enterprise Console are not being added to the vmscan tables within the SQL database.

I am running savscancontroller -d -t configure <name of config file.txt> and it lists all of the VMs I have added to the config file, and does not report any errors. However, the additional Computer IDs are not being added to the SQL tables.

Do I need to run savscancontroller.exe on the SQL server? Is there something that I am missing?

    Hi Bryan, 

    Just to confirm, is the Enterprise Console database on the same server as the management server? If so the Virtualization Scan Controller should be installed on that, as per the documentation (see page 5). 

    I did discuss your issue internally, you may need to reinstall the scanner (if you haven't done so already). 

    Please try this and let us know how you make out and if you have any further questions.

    Hi Rod,

     

     

    The database is on a different server, which already has VSC installed. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the database server and the SEC server this afternoon, but it does not seem to have resolved our problem. The uninstall/install process removed and recreated the tables in our SQL database, but the groups listed in the SQL tables seem to be missing some of the VMs, despite trying the configure command on the SEC server again, which seems to complete successfully.

    When uninstalling and installing on the database server, the console does report that the operation completes successfully, but we are getting an app crash problem, the output of this error in the event log is as follows:

    Hi Brian, 

    I apologize for the delay in the response. Are there any further updates? 

    I checked past cases internally on the Event error you've reported. However, nothing turned up. Therefore we'll need additional logging gather by running the the Sophos Diagnostic Utility (SDU) on the database server (and the management server, to troubleshoot the original issue). Then open a Support Case, and send the SDU logs on behalf of that case.  

    Please PM me the case number.
