can't remove 8.0

I use 8.0 but want to update to 9.0.

somebody on this forum tells that 8.0 should be removed , then install 9.0.

So, I double clicked the Sophos remove in my application folder but nothing happened (nothing I can see).

The APP is broken?

In this case, how can I install the 9.0.

I already downloaded 9.0 but since my MAC still has 8.0, I can't do anything right now.

    Yes, to keep the forum readable a different questions shouldn't be put on the end of the original as a future reader will get confused.
