Scsn is slow, seems to be stopped

The scan hasn't moved, and says "archive.pax.gz" in the scanning window. What does this mean?

  • This means that it is currently scanning inside an installer archive... when all the files extracted from the archive have been scanned, the numbers will continue to increase.  As long as the progress bar is still throbbing, SAV is still hard at work.

  • I too have the same problem. It scans and gets stuck at archive.pax.gz

The progress bar is still "throbbing" but it has been at archive.pax.gz for over an hour. Is there a time frame for waiting? How long will this take? Or should I just scan without scanning archives?

    THanks

  • You can choose to exclude compressed files from scanning to speed up scans.

Malware can't run from inside a zip file so scanning of compressed files isn't a strong requirement - the malware would first have to be extracted to run and then it's an uncompressed file and will be scanned with the default seetings
