Problem with USB port after installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition version 7c

Hey guys. Can anyone help me?

I am unable to read my USB hub/splitter after installing the anti-virus. It will not recognise any thumb drive that I insert int the hub but it is fine if I insert the thumb drive directly into the USB port. The problem did not resolve even after unstalling the anti-virus.

I am a new Mac user. I am using iMac running on Mac OS X 10.7.2.

Really appreciate any help.

Thank you. :smileyhappy:

Robert

  • Your issue is due to timing... with OS X Lion, Apple added a new command... Command-R.  It enters recovery mode, and overrides zapping the PRAM.

However, the PRAM command causes it to be reset right at power-on; the recovery mode doesn't trigger until after all the hardware tests and setup are complete.  So, if you ensure that you hold down the keys soon enough, you should get to the right results.

    Dear Andrew,

Tried your suggestion. It opened up the Mac Os X Utiity with several options (1) Restore fro Time Machine Backup (2) Reinstall Mac OS X (3) Get Help Online (4) Disk Utility.

I don't know how to proceed.

    Thanks.
