Problem with USB port after installing Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition version 7c

Hey guys. Can anyone help me?

I am unable to read my USB hub/splitter after installing the anti-virus. It will not recognise any thumb drive that I insert int the hub but it is fine if I insert the thumb drive directly into the USB port. The problem did not resolve even after unstalling the anti-virus.

I am a new Mac user. I am using iMac running on Mac OS X 10.7.2.

Really appreciate any help.

    Dear Andrew, 

    Tried your suggestion. It opened up the Mac Os X Utiity with several options (1) Restore fro Time Machine Backup (2) Reinstall Mac OS X (3) Get Help Online (4) Disk Utility.

    I don't know how to proceed.
