Kernel Panic in account with parental controls

Hello,

We were getting frequent kernel panics when my daughter was logged in to her account, on which parental controls are enabled.  (10.4.11).  Here is an excerpt from the panic.log:

When I looked at parental controls for that user, I saw that Applications>Sophos Anti-Virus was not checked, so I checked it, and we haven't seen any more kernel panics so far.

Did I do this correctly?  Does a user account with parental controls (on applications) enabled have to have that box checked for Sophos to work for that user?

Thanks,

Mark

  • Just an update.  This problem seems to occur only when Net Nanny is enabled.  I just got another kernel panic after a page would not load properly in Safari, after I enabled Net Nanny.  So the problem may reside there.

And parental controls are not enabled in that account, so that does not seem to be an issue after all.

  • Thanks for the update! This situation makes much more sense, as the two products could easily be competing for the same resources.  This is the exact reason why we recommend only one AV solution be enabled at a time (not being an AV solution, this conflict is hopefully fixable).
