Need help to re-activate mac home 8.0.6

I accidentally deleted all past update downloads.   Now the sophos anti-virus 8.0.6  is no longer operative.

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8   

Can someone please tell me what to do to get it started again.   Many thanks in advance.

    "Remove and start over" is probably your best/easiest bet -- check some of the other threads on this forum for further discussion on this problem -- it doesn't have anything to do with deleting files from your downloads folder.

    If reinstallation doesn't fix your problem, you may have corrupt preference files, or something may have gone strange with your network connection -- sometimes SAV seems to like to keep using the same network connection you were using when you installed it.  Switching to WiFi from an Ethernet connection has been known to cause server connection issues.
