Version 8 keeps crashing my computer

After installing Version 8, my MacBook Pro keeps crashing or freezing.

I removed and reinstalled version 8, with no improvement; my computer keeps crashing or freezing with no other options than to reboot it.

Also, scanning appears to be extremely slow.

After uninstalling it, my computer works normally and no longer crashes or freezes.

I had no problems with Version 7.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3

MacBook Pro, early 2011

Version 7 is still supported; you can reinstall that one. However, I'm sure that the dev team would love to hear more about your setup/crash logs so they could help fix your problem in version 8 as well.

Sophos says version 7 and 8 are Lion compatible but we have had freezing with both of them. Usually it's when sophos is checking for updates or when the laptop is no longer connected to a time machine backup or when time machine is backing up then it freezes. When you turn off "on access scanning" then the problem goes away.
