How to manually removed a virus threat detected by Sophos

Hello,  I just got a notification from Sophos about various virus threats on my computer.  I did the scan, authenticated, and had several threats removed following the simple instructions provided from the Support section.  However, there are still 12 files for Trojan/ByteVeri-N that the Sophos program is telling me need to be manually removed.  How do I do this?

  • There's a good thread on here to walk you through manually removing a threat, but I'll sum it up for you:

If the files are detected on your main drive, just create a custom scan, include that directory in the scan path, and set the action to "delete" instead of "log" or "quarantine".

If this doesn't do the trick, follow the paths listed in quarantine details and delete the files via the Finder/Time Machine (depending on where they're located).  As Troj/ByteVeri-N is an uncommon Windows trojan, it's possible that these are being detected in an archive of some point... in which case you'll have to either delete the entire archive, or manually go in and remove the files.
