Update downloading, apparently not installing???

I have v 9.1.5, Threat detection engine: 3.53.1, Threat data: 5.06, Protects against 7756826 threats.

For the last few days I've noticed approx 120 KB of data being downloaded in the update dialogue box during an update, but the "updated" dialogue box pops up instantly following the download, rather than taking the few seconds to install that usually happens.

This event, including the same amount of data download, has been happening at least once a day. And the "about" info remains unchanged following each event.

Is it possible the install step is being missed due to a bug?

    In checking the logs over the past few days, nothing appears to indicate any irregularity. The only indication of change is that the number of threats protected against increases slightly with each download. So maybe it's just coincidental that I saw a few consecutive downloads of approx 120 KB each
