Anti Virus for Mac - this scan has never been completed

I have downloaded the Sophos anti virus software for the mac. My operating system is OSX 10.4.11. I followed the download instructions and then scanned "local drives" as instructed however the scan is never completed and the message keeps coming up "This scan has never been completed"!

I have read the threads on this online forum to try and resolve the problem but you need to be a computer expert to understand the language being used, and I haven't found this to be helpful. Can anyone explain to me in plain English what the problem might be and how it can be resolved?

thank you

  • That would seem to imply that a part of SAV was in contention with some part of the OS over some kernel-related activity.  This is likely file-change related.

You may wish to try adding ./DocumentRevisions-V100/ to your exclusion list for on-access scans.

You can do this by going to Sophos Anti-Virus Preferences, click On-access Scanning, and press Excluded Items.  Click the lock to authenticate, then click + to add an item.  Navigate to the root of your computer (your main hard drive name), then press command-shift-. (that's a period).  Select ".DocumentRevisions-V100" and click Open.  It will be added to your exclusion list.
