When running a virus scan, Sophos will not stop "Calculating..."

I've been using Sophos for Mac Home Edition for over a year now, with no problems.  Until a month ago.  My hard drive crashed and I had to get a new HDD installed in my iMac.  I installed Mountain Lion on this new drive and used Migration Assistant to reinstall everything else back onto my hard drive from a Time Machine backup.  Ever since, I have been unable to run a virus scan using Sophos.  When I try to "..scan all files and folders on my Mac," Sophos Anti-Virus begins by "Calculating..." - but it never moves on to the scanning phase.  Last night, it ran like this for more than two hours without ever beginning the scan.  After all this time, it still said "Calculating...".  The Sophos version installed on my iMac is 8.06C.  I have already tried uninstalling Sophos and reinstalling.  To no avail.  Does anybody know what is going on here?  And how I can fix it?

    Don't I just feel really dumb...  The issue I described above was quickly fixed with a reboot of my MacBook Air.  Once I had logged in as administrator again, the Sophos anti-virus program worked just fine.  Before starting its scan, it gave me THREE choices, like it is supposed to do.  And the 2 threats that were quarantined were cleaned up without a fuss.  Please just ignore my whining in my previous post.  I was out of line and wrong.  However...  my first issue with the never-ending barber pole and endless "Calculating..." is still very much a problem on my iMac.
