Modifying proxy settings

I regularly use my Mac in an environment that requires me to manually authenticate against a proxy server. The default proxy configuration therefore makes it impossible to update while I'm in this environment. I would like to change these settings, but the proxy configuration selector is grayed out on the preferences page. Is there some other way to modify these settings?

  • I wanted to ask the same question. Then I've seen the answer. It does not help. Because I had already attempted the same approach, introducing in the control panel (network pane) a proxy of an externa firewall. Problem is that when the proxy of the firewall is set in the control pane, then Sophos is unable to update. When I removed the proxy from the MacOS control pane, then Sophos was working fine again. So, I am left with the question on how to set a proxy in Sophos... Anyone can help ? - Thank you in advance. Yours,
