Sophos Mobile Security Alerts on Where's My Droid Update

Android 4.3 on Samsung/Google Nexus. Sophos Mobile Security 3.0.1 154 (7) alerts on Where's My Droid Pro 5.0.0 Identifies application as "Potentially unwanted app Category System Monitor". This application is a remote wipe, remote control via text to provide location & generate tones. I believe this is a false positive as this is intended application functionality.

  • Just downloaded this as a test:

The Sophos page on Android Walien defines it as "Specifically for android mobile devices, this application tracking purposes but has remote control capabilities as well such as mobile locking/unlocking and message deletion".

I believe the classification is correct due to the powerful features of the app and potential for misuse; however you can 'ignore' the detection if required.  Perhaps not the answer you were looking for - sorry. :smileyfrustrated:

If it's causing a problem (i.e., impacting business) you could submit a sample of the app/open a support case and request the detection is removed.  However you would probably have to provide a strong business case as I imagine detecting this application but allowing the app is probably what most customers will want.
