Problems Uninstalling

Dear Sir or Madam

I am currently using a Mac and recently attempted to uninstall Sophos Version 8.0.16. I have uninstalled the software, however I now keep getting error messages saying something along the lines of "Sophos is not running" -and Sophos still appears in my task bar, even though it's no longer in my application folder. How do I get rid of it entirely?

    Thanks for the hammer, it worked easily and quickly (good analogy!).  Just wanted to say that I went into my applications and just dragged the various Sophos items to the trash.  Then noticed that it was still eating memory and went to find out why and realized I needed to go to the uninstaller and remove properly, but of course it is gone (but not really gone!).  So that at least was my issue.  Appreciate the help and wanted to let you know what happened in at least one instance.
