How to restart On Access Scanner

Periodically On Access Scanner turns itself (?) off. Is there some way to force it to restart other than rebooting?

    glad to know i'm not the only one.

    it happened a few months ago and i managed to turn it on, but today everything was greyed out - found this forum, did a restart and it's working fine.

    am on a mac 10.6.8, with the latest sophos update.
