How to restart On Access Scanner

Periodically On Access Scanner turns itself (?) off. Is there some way to force it to restart other than rebooting?

Try a fix from bobcook about uninstallin kext on page 4 or 5 of this thread below. It worked for me, but it appears there may be variations on the problem.
