HELP!

I just installed the sophos software onto my MAC (I was told that my MAC had "infections") and I'm not sure what I need to do now.  I got the message that the installation was "successful" and I'm not sure what needs to be done now...hoping someone can help me that is good w/ the Mac.  I love my MAC but am not "techy" at all w/ it...More familar w/ Dell.  Hope someone can help me w/ the next steps...**bleep** those hackers!

  • AOL tech help? Are you sure it was actually AOL, and not a scammer trying to get your credit card info?

If it was a message from AOL saying that your machine appeared to be infected with Alureon, or they mentioned something about DNS, that's likely not your computer, but your router pointing at the wrong DNS resolver.  There are some threads on here discussing this issue.  If it was a cold-call from someone calling themselves AOL Tech Help, it was likely fake.

There are very few things out there that can infect a Mac that someone who isn't either remotely controlling the malware, or who is physically at your computer could detect.

Do you know what Mac/OS Version you're using?  You can find out by going to the Apple menu and selecting "About This Mac"
