cannot uninstall from Mac with removal tool

Sophos is freezing my computer constantly. I am trying to use the removal tool to get it off my Mac OSX v 10.7.4

it asks me to log in with my apple ID, which i know is correct, and it won't accept that so I cannot proceed to uninstall the program.

i see that this is a known issue.

now what can i do to get this **bleep** thing off my computer?

    Apparently it is a known issue that Sophos is freezing Macs. Why is there no warning about this anywhere on your site?

    This is really unacceptable. I need to get the free software off my Mac, now.

    How can I do that when the removal tool isn't working?
