I installed the software and used it for about 6 weeks before uninstalling it and reverting to iAntivirus. The reason - it crippled the launch speed of a number of applications and made others run so slowly that the benefits of having a Mac (It just Works) were completely negated.

Have others had similar issues? Can anything be done to stop or at least reduce this effect? Thanks.

  • If the referenced applications were Java-based, this is likely because you have "scan inside archives" turned on for on-access scanning.  Turn this off, and see if this fixes your problem.

    That said, would you please list the applications that are having these issues?  Also, what OS and Mac version are you using?  I ask because I've tested a number of configurations with Java-based apps and after the first launch, I haven't had many issues even with archive scanning turned on.
