Two Sophos icons/shields showing in toolbar?

Hi there,

Periodically, I see two sophos icons/shields in the tool bar... there's nothing you can do to stop it... sometimes it goes away after a few hours and sometimes it can be there for days.

I've seen this on two different Macbook Air's now and only happened since upgrading to Mountain Lion.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall on both systems. Exactly the same behavior.

Both systems are running Mountain Lion and Sophos 8.0.6c

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?  Is it just a bug and we have to wait for the next release?

Many thanks.

Geoff

  • I see that the "double shields" issue is caused by having redundant configurations for launching the SophosUIServer process upon user login. One is in the Login Items section of the Users system preference, the other is a Launch Agent defined in /Library/LaunchAgents/com.sophos.uiserver.plist.  In my opinion a launch agent is preferred over a login item when it comes to starting an app at user login. Thus I agree that removing the login item (via the '-' button) is the correct solution to this issue.
