Two Sophos icons/shields showing in toolbar?

Hi there,

Periodically, I see two sophos icons/shields in the tool bar... there's nothing you can do to stop it... sometimes it goes away after a few hours and sometimes it can be there for days.

I've seen this on two different Macbook Air's now and only happened since upgrading to Mountain Lion.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall on both systems. Exactly the same behavior.

Both systems are running Mountain Lion and Sophos 8.0.6c

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this?  Is it just a bug and we have to wait for the next release?

Many thanks.

Geoff

  • I, too, had the two Sophos icons in the menu bar as well after my Mountain Lion upgrade.  I noticed that someone mentioned that they removed the checkmark in the startup items list.  That checkmark just means that the item is hidden when it automatically starts up.  You must remove the Sophos line item from the startup items list all together.  Once you do, then reboot your Mac.  After startup, you should see only one Sophos icon in the menu bar.
