Weird thing happened..was it a virus attempt? Had sophos free version

while there is a trial version of SAV for Windows there is no free version - so what is this Sophos free you are referring to? Do you mean the free security scan or a trial version?

Apart from that - what you describe reeks of FakeAV and it seems it wasn't able to settle in.

Thanks for getting back to me..it was listed as a free tool that would not interfere with my current MSE antivirus..it has Sophos protection disabled so have to run it by itself. Its called  Sophos Threat Dectection Test version 7.6.2. I found it by way of Facebook..have been a follower ever since and have gotten many friends converted.

I also love the updates and so do my friends and we talk about Sophos news feed about the current scams on FB and other sites...

So this free tool is just a 1 time use?

Thanks for the FakeAv info...never had it happen before never saw it and was just watching a youtube video song..wondering what I can do to prevent this from happening and how the HECK did it get past MSE and RUBotted. I now understand that Sophos is not doing anything real time and updatesw often even though I have told it to update every 10 hours as it lags the computer and DOS windows popup in the middle of what I am doing.

Sophos did quarrantine 8 things that no other program could find of which some are parts of games..I would submit them for review but don't know how..surprised that it found something after I tested each program that had a tool Like trends "house Call"  and other programs..super antispyware..malwarebytes..and settled for MSE as it was the only one that found the "item" i had hid in a remote folder and deleted it..Sophos was the only one that found it and quarrantined it....
