  • Before you completely freak out, it's ok... your data is (most likely) not encrypted, which means that even if the OS is toasted, you should still be able to copy your data off of the drive.

There is a tool that works with SafeGuard Enterprise / Easy v5.50 called sgnrollback.  This tool was designed for cases like yours, where the POA doesn't boot or there is some other problem after initial installation.  Sophos has a document that documents how to use the rollback tool.  Here's the link to the PDF:

    http://www.sophos.com/sophos/docs/eng/manuals/Utimaco/ssg_55_togeng.pdf

I have never used this tool, so I really don't have any pointers for you, but just in case, I would definitely suggest booting from a WinPE disc and backing up any important data to an USB flash drive or external hard disk.

  • The download that you grabbed for SafeGuard Easy should have a tools folder in it, and that is where the sgnrollback tool should be located.

As for the bootable CD that the documentation refers to, you can either grab the (2 GB) Windows 7 AIK here:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=136976

or try to create a BartPE disc using a Windows XP CD you have handy.  Here's a link to BartPE:

    http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

If even this seems tedious to you, then you could try booting from an XP/Vista/7 CD, click on "REPAIR" and try to repair the MBR.  Assuming your hard drive is not encrypted, that should get you booting back into Windows, and allow you to uninstall SGE.  I have done this successfully with SafeGuard Enterprise v5.40 (before there was a rollback utility), but if it breaks something, don't blame me...

  • hey guys

got the same problem like the guy who started this thread.

i googled now for days about this and have found some guides to create a WinPE Image and something like that.

but maybe i am dumb as hell or this is nothing for me cause i dont get it running.

i cant get this sgnrollback.exe running after boot with my winpe version.

maybe someone has got a tip or a good guide where i see how to integrate this tool into my winpe image?

theres only much with dism and mount/unmount winpeshl.ini and something like that and i really try many commands through my console but it wont run :(

i know, its an old thread but i dont want to create a new one cause its the same problem.

and sorry 4 my bad english
