USB Keyboard not working after Sophos loads...

After installing 5.5, our USB Keyboards cease to function on the Windows Boot Menu (Choose your OS to boot, press F8 for safe mode, etc.) The device will boot, load Sophos PBA, and once the windows boot menu appears our USB keyboards stop responding. PS/2 connected keyboards work correctly. Prior to installing Sophos, USB keyboards worked as expected with the boot menu. Any insight would be much appreciated :) Thanks!

  • Hi tjthomp1,

Can you clarify, is this 5.50.1 or 5.50.0.116?

Sounds like the POA has switched off legacy USB suport possibly because of known conflicts with your hardware. Not saying this will work, by if using 5.50.1, press and hold shift immediately after powering on (or as soon as you here the bios beep if you can time it just right), then when you see Sophos SafeGuard is loading, press F5 while keeping shift down and you should see it switch USB on. Does the keyboard now work? If using 5.50.0.116, this is slightly different, you don't need to hold shift down, just press shift-f5 when you see Sophos Safeguard is loading. Doing this may cause it to hang (which would be why legacy is switched off in the first place) but worth trying anyway and seeing if it makes any difference. If it does, you can install SGNClient with the Alternate=1 or Alternate=0 (can't recall which way is force 'on') option.

  • We're running 5.50.0.116. I followed your instructions for Shift+F5 but wasn't able to change Legacy Keyboard Support to "On". The weird thing is, I have full keyboard and mouse support while in the POA and can authenticate without issues, but as soon as the boot menu appears it stops working. We have tested this with multiple devices and different USB keyboards and all of them are behaving this way.
