Pass-Through Authentication Failure

We are currently using Safeguard Enterprise 6.00.0.155 with a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  DX and DE are installed.

While POA authentication is working properly, I cannot seem to get Pass-Through Authentication to work.  I believe the policies are set correctly and I am able to check the option to pass the credentials to Windows.  It does not seem to make a difference whether I click this option or not, Windows still prompts for credentials and nothing is passed through.

We normally require a user to press CTRL+ALT+DELETE before Windows prompts for credentials, though I have tested removing this requirement and Pass-Through Authentication still does not function.

Is there a way to troubleshoot this issue or a recommendation on a few things to check that may be preventing Pass-Through Authentication?

Thanks,

Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Just a thought... You are clicking the SafeGuard picture at Windows Logon (normally a Safe dial image with SGN v6x) and not the Windows flower image?

Also, do you have any other third party Credential Providers installed on the machine? Perhaps remote control agents, self help password reset etc?

If so it might be worth looking at those.

    Again, just a thought.

    Regards,

    John

  • Hi stone3825,

in addition to the hints from RL, I'd recommend to verify if there was any SGN Policy "Authentication | Logon Options | Pass through to Windows" configured that would prevent pass through?

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • We do have a third party credential provider and I figured this might be the issue.  The strange thing is that I walked away for a week and after another reboot it started working.  Funny how that works considering I rebooted close to a dozen times before.

I am still having a few issues with the policy displaying the check box under "Pass through to Windows" when a user clicks the option button at POA, but it doesn't seem to affect anything and the credentials are passed at the Windows login.  it seems to work whether i assign a computer or a user to the policy.

I can fix this issue by assigning both the user and the computer objects the pass-through policy, but obviously this is a minor issue at this point.  When they are both assigned, the pass-through box shows as checked.

    Thanks for your thoughts.
