SafeGuard Enterprise Client - POA-Authentification without Fingerprint Reader

hi guys, i have a question?

The Hardware is a Lenovo R500 notebook with AuthenTec Fingerprint Reader (Windows XP SP3).

I don't register any fingerprint data. On every POA logo-on screen i get the message that no Fingerprint data are available. Is it possible to blank this message.A subsequent registration of any fingerprint data's must be quite possible (no disabling over the SGN MC)!

Thank you in advance,

Johannes

  • Hi Johannes,

    welcome to the forum =)

With regards to your question I have to tell you that the only option at the momen indeed is to disable FP logon via the Manageement Center. In case that FP logon has been defined once for the machine the POA will always check for that.

A temporary disable is not possible at the moment - maybe you could try to disable the FP reader in the BIOS and enable it at a later point of time when you want to use this function.

  • Hi Daniel,

thanks for your quick reply. A temporary disabling of the FP isn't an option for me.
When I disable the FP in the BIOS, your user can't enable it to a later point.
We have always BIOS Password on our round 1000 notebooks.

Is a blank of this message in sight with the new version of SGN 5.50 which will released in March 2010.

    Best Regards,
    Johannes

  • Question: Why is it not an option for you to disable the FP logon otion via SGN policy?

  • Hi BlueSky20,

sorry for the delay. The problem is, we have a lot of user that are using the FP.

When i disable the FP over the SGN policy, then no one can use the FP in the Windows (e.g.: release the screensaver with FP).

Also when i diasble the FP over the SGN policy, then i disable the FP for all devices in our company.

At the moment in our default values is the FP enabled. For user which have a problem with the FP error message, they put it in a "FP disabling" group over the AD.

But this procedure is very boring.

    BR, Johannes
