Laptop keyboards not working at POA screen

I hope someone can help,

our company has recently bought 2 new laptops for members of staff, these have been setup as needed and finally had Safeguard 5.4 installed on them.

now when the laptops are rebooted to the POA screen the keyboards no longer work, I can still sign in to them using the virtual keyboard but this isn't a satisfactory sollution for the users.

The laptops are both Lenovos, one is an SL510 and the other an X100e, both with Windows XP pro SP3, once in Windows the keyboards work fine.

Help....!

  • Hi SilentBob,

Thank you for posting your question in the forum.

A couple questions came to mind when I was reading your post.

    1. Is the laptop in a docking station?

If so, please update your docking station BIOS and if the issue persists, then see #2 below.

    2. Is it a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 keyboard?

The POA has default support for USB 2.0. If for some reason your USB is version 1.1 or rolling back to 1.1 then you will need to use a POA hotkey. There is a great KB article on the different POA Hotkeys and how to use them. Learn more...

Please let the community know if either of these suggestions resolved the issue. If not, please open a case with Sophos Support because what you are experiencing will not be resolvable in the community forum.

  • Thanks for the feedback David

the laptops aren't in docking stations so that's not the issue, and I can confirm that I have tried every hotkey combination imaginable with no help at all.

we've now got the support guys from our suppliers coming in to help resolve the problems and will be raising the issues with Sophos Support once we have all the information they could possibly need.

    apreciate your help though
