POA Authetification isn't possible after adding it to the domain?

Hi guys, i have a great problem with one of my SGN Managed clients.
The Hardware is an Lenovo T61 notebook with an Windows XP.
It was already installed (member of the domain) and encrypted with SafeGuard Enterprise, the User and there keys were available (1 local administrator as an owner and 1 domain user). Afer an new installation of the OS, i installed the SGN Client on this maschine (by now the notebook was member of a workgroup).
Then the notebook begins to encrypted an syncronised with the SGN Server (in the SGN MC the last connection were successful logged). The local administrator (same Accountname like the previous installation) was again the owner. Then i re-start for several times and logged on the POA succesfully.
Then i add this computer to a domain member and re-start again. Now i can't authentificate the local administrator on the POA (no passwort were changed, besides only an local authentification is feasible).

What can i do now? C/R isn't possible, because the local admin can chose in the C/R Menu.

Best Regards,
Johannes

  • Hi Johannes,

first of all sorry for the delay. Tricky situation that you are describing here... Actually I believe that the issue is that you installed the machine or at least the OS from scratch without removing the machine in the Management Center before. Additionally to that you then moved the machine into the Domain.

However in order to retrieve the data you can try these options:

    1. Create a machine C/R > meaning that you create a C/R with any kind of user that you can pick > this will let you boot the machine however authentication at POA level will only be possible using an valid user account

    2. In case that no C/R should be possible at all you can still slave the drive

Hope you get further with these answers.

  • Hi Dan, thanks for your advice. Certainly it's a tricky situation.
An C/R isn't possible because on the notebook there it's chosen only the local machine (e.g. WUMXXXXXX).
I can't select a domain (for an C/R with an other domain user). But in the SGN MC here i start the "Recovery" shell -> chose the domain and the certain computer -> in the next step i chose "local User from this Computer" and

here isn't any local administrator available.

Before i had add the computer to the domain there the local administrator was available.

Is it possible to create local user in the SGN MC? There no other solution?
To slave the drive isn't a solution for me, here i must re-installed the computer again.
