Unable to install windows xp

Hello There,

I am having an old laptop that was having sophos safeguard installed on it. I had to replace hard disk on this as the old one cant be used as is. I am trying to boot from an windows xp installation cd and install xp on the new harddisk. For some reason I am constantly getting a blue screen. When I am not booting from xp installation cd, it is still showing the sophos login screen. It is letting me login with my password and ending up with a blue screen.

Is there a way I can get rid of sophos safeguard on my machine and proceed with XP installation on my new harddisk?

Appreciate any help in this regard.

Regards,

BVK

  • Hello Christain,

Thanks for taking time and replyinthis three thread.

I formatted the old disk by connecting it anorther laptop by using an USB cable and trying to use that as an empty harddisk. Looks like even after formatting the disk it is finding some references to safeguard. How do I get through it?
