How to customise the Sophos SafeGuard 5.61 install?

Sophos SafeGuard 5.61

Sophos Enterprise Console 5.1.0.1839

This release seems to come with SETUP.EXE deployment option only. (I cannot find any SGNClient*.msi files on the server, nor packages available to download from support portal).

I need to customise my installation for certain models. Passing a customised POACFG.XML file to the installer would do nicely. However, according to the documentation I've seen, that is not an valid option for SETUP.EXE.

I tried modifying the default POACFG.XML file but that caused a checksum error.

Deployment Packager does not seem to do the job either.

Where do I get/find the SGNClient*.msi files to use to customise the install? Or, put another way, how do I customise the Sophos SafeGuard 5.61 install?

Thanks

  • Hi Mead,

Sophos Disk Encryption 5.61 is the integrated encryption client that comes with Endpoint 10.1. As opposed to SafeGuard Enterprise, the integrated encryption installer comes with a bootstrapper based installation that cannot be customized like the SafeGuard Enterprise installation (no client msi files available).

Please find an extract from KBA 117188 "Creating a customized POA Configuration File for Sophos Disk Encryption" below:

"With the first release of Sophos Disk Encryption (Sophos Enterprise Console 10.1 / Sophos Disk Encryption 5.61), creating customized POA configuration files for installation purpose is not supported.

If the installation of Sophos Disk Encryption fails due to the fact that a POA configuration setting is required but cannot be implemented in the setup, please use the tool HWInfo from KBA 110285 "SafeGuard products: How to gather hardware information for the POA settings generator" to gather machine specific information and open a Sophos Support Request, refering to this KBA.

A customizable POA configuration file may be added as a feature in a later release of Sophos Endpoint Security and Control."

    Regards,

    Chris
