Data exchange Polcies not being applied

We have rolled out safeguard 5.08 to around 200 clients and manage all polices centrally through safeguard management center.

users and computers have been synched with ad and all seemed to be working fine. out policy dictates initial encryption of all removable media and that sg protable software is automatically copied to any removable device.

It seems on some machines though for no obvious reason these polcies are not working. the policy state is up to date, the padlock is in the system tray and the pc is in the correct OU as other machines that work. with these problem machines safeguard simply does nothing when removable media is plugged in, no initial encryption box and no sg portable software copied to the stick.

there is no pattern to this. 90% of our pcs are xp desktops, and once pc may work fine but the pc next to it not, even though both pcs have had the software deployed centrally, and both are in the same OU.

If anyone could help advise where I should be looking for errors to fix this this would be great

  • Hi Lee,

    welcome to the forum =)

Just had a look at your post and I'd like to know if the key ring is available on these machines that ain't working (SafeGuard Enterprise Tray Icon > right click > Display > Key Ring) and if there is an overlay icon once you plug in the USB stick on such a machine under My Computer.

    Regards

    Dan

  • Yes I can see the key ring and also there is a overlay icon on the usb stick under my computer, but just no sgportable software being copied to the stick.

If however, I have the stick plugged in before logon then the software gets copied to the stick successfully. Its only when I plug a stick in after logon to the domain that the software does not get copied across.

this is happening on around 30% of our windows xp boxes, but none of our windows 7 machines.

    thanks

    Lee

  • Hi Lee,

in this case can you please check that the user is allowed to create files and folders on the stick (NTFS permissions) - if he is please raise a new support call for this as we would need logs then.

    Thank you

    Regards

    Dan
