Delete old, encrypted Computers from License

Hello

I used SafeGuard in our test enviroment. but now all the tests are done and i will go life with it.

now i have a problem with my License because i used Disk encryption for some clients.

After importing the license File i see on the License Tap under Device Encryption that there are still 4 devieses in use. how can i remove this test Clients from the MC so that i have all the Licenses available?

many thanks for your help and best regards

  • Hi Leuz

You're going to need to create some reports from the database. I suggest you backup your database then follow KBA109925 . There is a SQL script to find all machine that have Device Encryption installed. Once you've got a list of computers that have the module installed, modify the SafeGuard Client installation (in Add and Remove Programs / Programs and Features) on those computers and remove the module or uninstall the software.

You may need to set your Specific Machines Settings Policy to allow uninstallation.

Once the module has been uninstalled from the offending machines, go to Management Center > Users and Computers > Root > Licences and recount your licenses. They should be deducted.

  • What is the next step if you have done all previous steps and still management center won't release license?

I did an test installation on one computer and it successfully received policies and license. Management center show that

one license in in use. I then decrypted volume and uninstalled configuration package. I didn't reboot between those two steps. I then uninstalled client software and rebooted and finally uninstalled preinstallation packge and rebooted.

After this I opened management center, selected Root --> Licenses and clicked Recount button but it still shows that one license is in use. I'm using the latest versions.

  • I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but did you delete the machine from the Management Center before recounting licenses?

We've always had to do this, no matter how we uninstall SGN, but we're probably on an older version of SGN (v5.60.1) than you are testing.
