How to perform emergency decryption and uninstall of SGE v5.5

Dear Community, I would like to perform decryption of SGE v5.5 because there's a problem with the windows 7 boot manager. The machine is unable to boot into windows after i enter the SGE login information. It gave me a "File:\Boot\BCD" error. I have the login credential for SGE. Please shine some light on how to perform decryption without being able to log into windows. If that's not the best solution, how could i repair Boot\BCD after I enter the SGE credentials. Thank you!

  • I'm not sure how applicable this is to SGE, but I know in SGN that you can boot from a WinPE CD or UFD and use the RecoverKeys program (with a virtual client) to unlock the drive.  From there, you should be able to repair the boot information.

I know that SGE v5.5 allows for you to boot from a WinPE CD or UFD, but I don't know whether you can use the recoverkeys program to unlock the drive.  One of the Sophos guys will have to fill us in on that.

It's kinda old, but I found this KBA pretty helpful in laying out the recovery options with SGN.
