Web Security Appliance - how to restrict usage by IP Address

Hi there, we have two WSA1000 appliances configured for transparent proxy using WCCP with password protection.  All works good but we have found that unauthorized users are using the proxy servers.  We do not want to configure authentication on the appliances at this time so is there a built-in mechanism that can be used to block the proxy from being used directly as opposed to being used by WCCP ?

  • Hello Burgs,

How do you have the following setup :

Configuration -> Group Policy -> Default Groups

Namely, in the Default Policy association:

o All users/groups except those selected below

o Only the users/groups selected below

In the available Groups, there is a "Create" option where you can make a custom group, and add IPs.  If the first option "All users/groups except those selected below", is used with a customer group list of IPs, then what you want to achieve is possible.

    Cheers
