Browse time on WS500

Can someone tell me how "user browse time" is calculated on a WS500?

Thanks,

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

The appliance counts the time differance between every HTTP request.  So if I did the following web browsing, it would show as 1 minute browsing on google.com:

    01:00:00 google.com

    01:01:00 yahoo.com (1 minute later)

However, we will only count up to a maximum of 3 minutes. For example, if I did the following web browsing this would show as 3 minutes on google.com:

    02:00:00 google.com

    02:05:00 yahoo.com (5 minutes later)

This is because I went to yahoo 5 minutes afterwards, and 3 minutes is the maximum time for each request.  The appliance will add up the browsing time for all these requests to estimate the total browse time.

So effectively every HTTP request can last up to a maximum of 3 minutes, depending on what happens afterwards.

It's a tricky one to explain, so I hope the above helps.

    Thanks,

    -Tom.
