Bad throughput after 9.30*

We also just discovered once you change the MTU to 1280 on the UTM you can no longer connect to Office 365 Lync over a wireless connection.  If you change the MTU back to 1500 on the UTM Lync connects without issue, but your wireless connection is basically unusable.  The only way to get Lync to connect and have decent performance is to set the UTM to 1280 and force the MTU on your wireless card to 1280.  This isn't really a solution.  Sophos needs to get this fixed ASAP.

With both our separate WLANs and Bridge to LAN broken we have a case ongoing for 30 days now...Im told 9.306 is due out on Monday and will resolve the Separate Zone WLANs but no confirmation our bridge to LANs will be resolved at the same time

Toby, thank you for the update.  We only use Separate Zones, no Bridged WLANs, so that is good news for us.  I've never been shy about applying updates in the past; but with how hard it's been to get a hold of support, and the lack of communication we've received on this issue; I'm kind of nervous to see what new issues rear their head with 9.306

With my iPhone and speedtest.net, adding to post #29 above (an old QoS setting on the External interface was fixed [;)]):

UTM Version 9.306
Sophos AP 30 on eth0 (MTU 1500)
Connected to SSID Guest on wlan0 (MTU 1500): 14.72/2.08Mbps & 16.93/2.06

Sophos AP 30 on eth0 (MTU 1280)
Connected to SSID Guest on wlan0 (MTU 1280): 19.16/1.48Mbps & 20.51/2.06

Even on 9.306, there's a substantial difference between 1500 and 1280.

For me i fell like the problem is corrected. I have:
- Updated to 9.306
- Changed MTU from 1280 (was set before) to 1500
- Restarted my AP10

I obtain the full 25/2.5 Mb/s of my Internet line.

Upgraded to 9.306 and reverted to 1500 MTU, so far performance seems better.  I'll monitor for now and report back.

Speedtest.net is still giving erratic results, but the ability to use that app isn't essential.  If we know that speedtest.net isn't indicative of performance, we simply avoid it.

Are there any guidelines on what the MTU should be?  I've reverted back to the default of 1500, but I see it is still being debated in this thread, even after the fix has been released.
