AP Roaming

Sophos AP 30 and AP 50, allow customers to roam?
If I have 2 AP30 in different rooms, and move the desktops, they will reconnect the best signal / access-point automatically?

    I'm currently testing two AP10's utilizing one SSID and in most cases, the roaming from one Access Point to another is seamless. One caveat I've found, however, is when running an Application like Mumble (VoIP), it's not nearly as graceful as other Application implementations. I'll give this another test with TeamSpeak (another VoIP) to see if they're a bit more lenient. I'd agree that it's up to the Application to allow for a session to have service interruption, however, maintain a tolerance as well as the ability to resume and restore. If the implementation only handles that "handshaking" at the start, my guess would be that roaming would not be useful for that particular scenario.

    If you want something that will test your roaming function use MS Outlook in push mode that is very susceptible to connection breaks.

    I will try to remember to bring my work laptop home on Monday so I can try roaming between AP10 and an AP30.
