User portal & OWA/Activesync

Can I run the user portal & Outlook Web Access at the same time on the same port?
eg
Outlook Web Access = https://mydomain.com/owa
User Portal = https://mydomain.com/portal

If so, how would I go about doing this?

Louis

  • No, you cannot, unless you have more than one public IP...

    Private Setup:

    • XG: HPE DL20 Gen9 (Core i3-7300, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD) | XG 18.0 (Home License) with: Web Protection, Site-to-Site-VPN (IPSec, RED-Tunnel), Remote Access (SSL, HTML5)
    • UTM: 2 vCPUs, 2GB RAM, 50GB vHDD, 2 vNICs on vServer (KVM) | UTM 9.7 (Home License) with: Email Protection, Webserver Protection, RED-Tunnel (server)
  • Here's a trick to do it with WAF on port 1443, but you also can change the port for the User Portal to 2443 or other.  That's what I usually do as well as changing the SSL VPN to a different port using UDP.

    - Create a new A record in your public DNS, pointing outlook.domain.com at your public IP.
    - Either import the SSL certificate from the IIS server that runs Outlook Web Access, or create a new cert using Distinguished Name like 'C=uk, ST=State, L=City, O=My Company, OU=Exchange, CN=outlook.domain.com, emailAddress=postmaster@domain.com'
    - Create a Virtual Webserver for outlook.domain.com using SSL on port 1443.
    - Create a Real Webserver for the IIS server that runs Outlook Web Access, selecting port 80 or 443 depending on how you are configured.

That should allow you to reach OWA on port 1443 from the outside.

    Cheers - Bob
