Web Filtering Issues

Hi All

I'm after a little bit of help.

I currently have Web filtering setup for home use. 

When Web Filtering is on, I am unable to use the following services

Sky On Demand
Origin
Dropbox
Whats App Pictures (Dont download)
Snapchat
Panasonic Smart TV online features


I have been testing with dropbox using the following methods;

Adding dropbox.com as an allowed site within the filtering profiles. (also ticked include subdomains) - Added to the allowed list
Added into the exception list with the following "^https?://([A-Za-z0-9.-]*\.)?dropbox(\.\w{2}\.\w{2}|\.\w{2,4})/"
Adding it to the allowed list within Application Control

Methods of getting dropbox to work;

If I add my machine to the Skip Transparent mode Source hosts/nets.
Using the sock 4 proxy.



Has anyone got any ideas on how to get the above services working?

And I am running firmware version 9.306-6

    Hi, Alex, and welcome to the User BB!

    I'm only familiar with Dropbox, and I have no special settings for that.  Please add the line from the Firewall log file or the Web Filtering log file or the Application Control log file indicating a block of Dropbox traffic.

    Thanks for the reply. 

    The strange thing is I cannot see in any of the logs if Dropbox is being blocked or allowed.

    This is the only log I can find. It was taken from the application log;

    21:13:47 Application control rule #1 Dropbox  
    86.158.41.5 :49520→108.160.165.189:443 [ACK] len=52 ttl=64 tos=0x00 srcmac=7a:8b:af:f6:8c:03

    Ok, I have appeared to have fixed the issue, It was down to the web filter being set to warn about websites without a category.

    I have now set this to allow from Warn and all appears to be working. 

    Any idea around this? As I would like the users to get a warning about uncatalogued websites??

    Alex, on the 'Websites' tab of 'Filtering Options', assign 'Personal network storage' as a category to 108.160.165.189.  You may have to assign that to all of 108.160.160.0/20.

    Have you tried getting rid of the AppCtrl rule #1?

    But due to so many applications not working I am just going to leave the uncatalogued websites to allow [:)]
