We have 2 physical sites. Till now we have been using Websense for our http/https filtering. For this setup to work we had to install one websense server on each location.
2 years back Sophos promised their one unit UTM 9 will replace our existing setup of web filtering and will work even better than websense (what a l**). This unit will not sniff traffic (http/https) from across the router from our other physical site. It was promised by Sophos sales at that time that they will help install and blah blah. Two years after we are still on our own.
This unit has network security and web security and amazingly though we are paying for it web security never worked. I had opened up numerous calls for support and they do something to the unit and the unit works with hick ups and then does not filter or even sniff traffic from across the router.
On the last support call as usual we were suggested to hire Sophos support outside experts as inside experts cannot handle simple network like ours, and we have already paid for our licenses and support [:)]
From time to time we get calls from different boards to suggest them for network security and web filtering software. Guess what UTM Sophos is on my top 'blacklist' of recommendations.
