Hi Guys
Firstly, sorry to have to ask these questions as I am sure others have been here before - and I have searched for two evenings and had no luck with answers.
I am using the latest UTM (home license) in a hyperV VM - all working ok, as far as basic connectivity is concerned - one LAN NIC to the inside network and outside is BT Infinity using PPPOE .
Question 1 - Infinity uses VLAN 101 - and to get the option in the interface to select VLAN to appear you need to check the VDSL box (which I have done).
I have read that for Infinity, you should not check the VDSL box - why is this?
Do I need to drop to the command line to add the VLAN tag?
What else changes when the VDSL box is checked in the gui?
Ok, sorry, that was a long question 1!
Question 2 - client access to the web.
My old setup was using a Cisco 887VA - running its own integral VDSL modem. Clients just had the Cisco as their default gateway and they could reach the web.
I want the UTM to be the same (thinking about all these phone/tablet/PC/laptop/devices etc plus any visiting devices to change!) and see that the default UTM config shows it is in transparent mode.
Now - with my PC default gateway set to the UTM, I cant access the web.
If I set the UTM to be my proxy on my PC, the web is accessible.
What is stopping the UTM working as a transparent proxy for browsing?
I have not made any other UTM changes from default wizard questions.
Lastly - and I guess its question 3 - with no proxy set on the PC, I can use the UTM webadmin. If I enable proxy for the browser, the webadmin is no longer accessible (even with the bypass local addresses checked) - and vice versa applies too.
If these are any how to guides or other help for these, any pointers are very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
David
