Hi all,
Just got back home with shiny new Note4 for my wife. Spent the past couple of hours trying to get it to work correctly with all internet applications. I think I'm almost there. Below are some of the issues that I've experienced:
* Can't download some apps from Google play --> had to put an exception in web filtering for Note 4 to skip Antivirus. I guess that's pretty safe, considering that it's a phone, but still, not the best approach.
* If I set to "Warn" for "Uncategorized" sites then some of the applications do not work correctly --> had to remove that setting, again, I did this reluctantly. I actually think that the culprit is the issue below (which has been talked about here in the Netflix exception threads)
* If I look at the Web Filtering log, I see that for a lot of the communication with/from Note 4 the destination IPs do not get resolved to an FQDN ... shows up just as an IP address -- I think that's causing categorization issues and leads to issue #2 above. Interestingly, if the destination is IPv6, then the reverse-resolution works well, but not for most of the IPv4 addresses. I wonder if I can just make note 4 operate strictly via IPv6 (something tells me, probably not).
I also have BlackBerry, iPhone and iPad on the same net, and for them UTM seems to reverse-resolve fine, but for some reason not for this Android. Driving me nuts [:)] ... but I got it to work to my wife's satisfaction (happy wife happy life -- that's all that matters).
Anyone else experience the same problems? Any other advice?
Thanks!
